Never, ever has there been such a horrible tragedy this close to home. Or should I say murder, as these fires were deliberatly lit.

For anyone who doesn't know about the fires, for many days, even more than a week, fires have been roaring across the state of Victoria, causing as yet unknown numbers of deaths. Currently, the toll stands at 173, but is likely to reach 300, as much of the area burnt has yet to be searched.

Families have been lost, and relatives are currently panicing for the people they can't contact. The damage is irrepareble, but we cann all help. The Red Cross Australia ([link]) is taking donations to help survivors, and to fund further fire fighting and projects to rebuild.

There are still 20 fires burning, and it is unknown as to when they will stop burning and destroying. The most horrible thing about this is that the fires were deliberatly lit. And whoever is the serial arsenist that is responsible should suffer for ever life they took, and every family they destroyed.

I am safe here in Wa, but I only wish that I could do more to help out the families affected.
